No. Engine Mail is local-first: your email content, contacts, attachments, and passwords stay on your device. Your messages only ever travel to your own mail provider. Nothing is stored on our servers, and we never read your mail, show ads, or sell your data.

How does the AI work, and do you send my emails to an AI company?

Engine Mail uses bring-your-own-key (BYOK) AI. You connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, or local Ollama key, so summaries, replies, and writing help run through your account, never a shared Engine Mail AI server. Your email content is never sent to us.

The macOS app runs today on macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel (about 495 MB). iPhone and iPad are in private testing, a native Windows 11 app is in active development, and Android is planned for 2026.

Privacy Shield blocks tracking pixels and remote content by default, so senders can't tell when, or whether, you opened a message. Phishing Shield scores every email before you click, and attachments are scanned for malware before you open them. All on by default.
